Highest Resolution P band SAR Image From Sisir Radar

Yesterday P band Drone SAR from Sisir Radar captured this polarimetric image of the verdant landscape of the State of West Bengal, India. The landscape is filled with Rabi (Winter) crops in maturing stages or large artificial ponds dedicated to fish farming.

Of course, the boundaries of crop fields or ponds are filled with large trees, typical of Bengal. Surprisingly the P band signature does not show up in crops or foliage as green signatures are largely missing in this decomposed image. However, there is an abundance of blue signatures of plain or inclined surfaces, and red dots, mainly the signature of tree trunks.

We are fine-tuning the P band SAR system to make it immune to very large contamination of man-made RF noise and signals in the operating band. Nonetheless, we are amazed at the foliage penetration capability of the P band.
